A BEAR'S EARS LEGACY
VM. 013
“My grandmother helped to protect Bear’s Ears National Monument and Grand Staircase Escalante before the National Park Act was passed by writing letters to the government to halt the development, and that area was protected thanks to my grandmother.
I grew up going on river trips on the San Juan River. I can't emphasize how much of an impact that had on my life.
It gave me a deep appreciation for nature. It's so important that our public lands stay protected for the heritage, the protection of the wildlife, the native spirit, the indigenous people who were here before us. The best part about the United States is the nature. I truly hope that people will keep fighting to save the ecosystems for future generations.”
