“Please don't be shortsighted and sell out to the special interests that make donations to your campaigns. I've been working to protect the Arctic for over 40 years. I started working when Jimmy Carter was president and worked with his administration and the Department of Interior on raising grassroots awareness of the importance of these public lands up in Alaska. There's no sane reason to open these lands to oil and gas development that will impact the wild values of these areas.
These lands belong to all of us and to the people of the world. And there's no other place like it on the planet. Past Leigh Sales have failed. It's a gimmick, and we're not going to take it anymore. So please take development in the refuge as well as the western Arctic. Out of the big, bad bogus bill that you're trying to pass. Thanks.”
