LIFEBLOOD OF MY COMMUNITY
VM. 029
“Shame on you. Go out and enjoy your public land and see how important it is to everyone in the country, on the planet, and including yourselves in public service. It provides jobs, provides livelihood, provides peace of mind, joy. I have lived in the high country of Colorado since I was in my early 20s, surrounded by public lands. It is the lifeblood of my community because we rely on people to come here and enjoy our public land by mountain biking, hiking, enjoying our rivers, skiing in the winter months.
Without our public lands, my community would completely die. You think that this is what’s going to eliminate our debt? Why not try taxing the really rich billionaires that are your donors and sponsors? Ask Warren Buffett. He'll tell you what the solution is. And probably what will happen is oil drilling, which means there'll be big trucks and heavy equipment and disturbances in communities.
And I can promise you, this is a really, really awful, disastrous idea.”
