AMERICA’S SERENGETI
VM. 024
“I first went to the Arctic in the 1960s when I was 12. It was a transformative experience. This is America's Serengeti. This is wildness. This is a place for us to be spiritually and emotionally enriched in so many ways, for people who can get there, and for people who will get there someday, and for America for all time.
It's not the time to develop it and turn it into oil leases and the oil platforms and the associated pollution. And the idea of selling off this land, of developing it for a few weeks or days of oil, is just a terrible thing.”
